TRIED AND TRUSTED

My 2 children (girl and boy) have been attending Children's BJJ classes at PRETA academy for about 6 months now. Professors Hayden and Kirman have created an incredible institution here in Kelowna from which we all benefit. My kids have attended/visited other gyms before this one and the atmosphere, culture, and speed of learning here is unmatched. The kids' first class was eye opening given how much attention and focus was given to them to make them as comfortable and the arts un-intimidating to a complete beginner. Both Professors are dedicated to the art, and they take it seriously, but mix it with just enough levity to keep the kids engaged and wanting to come back everyday. I wish them continued success and hope PRETA Academy continues to grow to the level that it deserves. If you're on the fence about sending your kids here, just have them try a class and see what it's all about.

I can't speak highly enough of Preta! I came in with zero experience in martial arts, and Hayden really made me feel like I belonged. He's such a genuinely kind person, always offering fantastic advice and taking the time to connect with each of us. He even offered us to stick around for the judo class afterward! The gym itself is super clean, and they provide clean gi's to borrow. Everyone there is just as friendly as Hayden, and even if you're struggling with something, they're so supportive. It's such a positive, welcoming environment filled with amazing people who are truly passionate about what they do. They've even gone out of their way to give us feedback about our techniques in our native language! I can't recommend Preta enough – you'll absolutely love it there! I fell in love with BJJ because of Preta!

I have been to a lot of Jiujitsu and Martial Arts clubs and by far Preta is the premiere Jiujitsu club in Kelowna. They are teaching the most up to date and new age techniques and styles. The instructors are passionate and well versed in all aspects of Jiujitsu for beginners and more advanced athletes. You can really feel that they take pride and care in every lesson. The Preta team is truly invested in your success and their attention to detail is game changing. If you are looking at improving your Jiujitsu game and taking it to the next level, then this is the club for you. Not only can they teach beginners, but I believe they are the best in Kelowna to take your tournament game to the next level. The Preta instructors are great with kids, teens, adults and women’s only classes. I know this as my whole family enjoys and takes part in their programs. It’s an amazing club with extremely talented instructors.

As a first time participant in Jiujitsu, in my 30s, it was very intimidating to step on the mat for close quarter combat training. The coaches at Preta made me feel welcomed and eased my anxieties. Kirman teaches an amazing WOMENS class on Saturdays, and is very patient, encouraging, and fun. I can now better understand and appreciate this sport. Plus, it’s a heck of a workout on the glutes, the thighs, the forearms and the abs! The space is clean and visually pleasing. And there’s lots of free parking, which is a bonus in downtown Kelowna.

I've been training in different gyms throughout different cities in BC for years, and Preta is one of the coolest gyms I've been in. The instruction is top notch and you can see the passion Hayden and Kirman have for jiujitsu. Hayden explains in fine detail the sequences and is always coming around answering questions and fine tuning every individual on the mat. As a female it's really important for me to train with other females especially smaller body types like myself. Kirmans woman's class is great for ladies who feel a little intimidated stepping on the mats, its always great to learn from high competitors who just love the sport. 5/5 for instruction, atmosphere, and sweet music
